HR Conclave & Placement Week

The annual HR conclave was held and organized on 7th of March, 2016 at Adamas Knowledge City campus by the Placement Cell of Adamas for the students of Adamas Institute of Technology. It is an endeavor of the Institute to rope in senior HR executives of reputed corporate houses with the view to help their students get placed well after they attain their degrees.

The event witnessed a gathering and active participation of senior HR professionals from Keventor, UAL Bengal, Skipper, Shrachi, LetMeFind eServices, Novatree eSolutions, Techno-Electric, SECTEC India, Saxby farmer and many others. The weeklong program commenced with a soulful
classical rendition coupled with a poetry recital followed by an inauguration ceremony by lighting of the lamp. During his introductory speech Sri Surojit Biswas, President, RICE Group, emphasized on the fact that “pedagogy followed in educational institutions and universities, must be industry-specific and should not only include theoretical portions”. Speaking about the various initiatives that the Group takes, he also added that here a student’s end-to-end requirement is taken into account, ensuring their career enhancement and overall academic progress. For this purpose, ‘Academic Advisory Council’ and ‘Industry Advisory council’ have been formed that caters to both, scholastic and career needs of each student enrolled. Dr. Surekha Thacker, Vice Chancellor, Adamas University, acknowledged and stated the importance of organizing meetings with the industry and corporates to get first-hand information on the market requirement and expectation from both students and academia.

Some of the ace HR personalities were invited on stage to express their thoughts and facts on recruitment as a process and their expectations from the candidates. While providing a few tips to get success in interview rounds and life in general, Mr. Bhudeb Hazra, GM-HR, SRMB, advised the students to develop technical as well as behavioral & administrative skills that will make them versatile. While Mr. Dipanjan Ganguly from Infinity Parks was looking at best fitment for a specific role that can also handle stress and conflict situationssmoothly along with the job responsibilities. Dr. Deepak Malhotra, VP-HR, SREI Infrastructure, was of the opinion that perfection at work is of utmost importance and as a part of the workforce, one should try to contribute to the economy of the nation. Adding to his points, he said that 90% weightage is attributed to communication & technical skills during interview rounds while the rest comprises body-language and eye-contact. The speech session was followed by a round where students were encouraged by HR experts to throw relevant questions and clear their doubts pertaining to their career and interviews. The stage also saw the unveiling of a book written by Dr. Malhotra ‘Match The Age To Keep Them Engaged’ by Sri Samit Ray, Chancellor-Adamas University & Chairman-RICE Group, Sri Surojit Biswas, President-RICE Group and Dr. Surekha Thacker, VC-Adamas University.

The event concluded with an Urdu couplet recited by Dr. Thacker thanking the guests for visiting and sharing their insights on talent acquisition, which followed a musical presentation ‘Tagore in Sufiana’ by the Group Shruti Brityo.
